Think I'm Replenished??

While mentally, I think my PR from yesterday still hasn't sunk in my monster appetite is certainly a reminder! Usually after a big PR, I walk around for days in a proud cloud of glory but today just seems like a normal day, and since I'm not sore AT ALL, it's easy to forget that I ran a marathon yesterday! Except that I keep eating...and eating...and eating....because I'm HUNGRY!

I'm not complaining. I love to eat. But I think well over 24 hours since the race, it's just about time to draw a line. I must be calorically replenished by now, right? I "only" burned 2400 calories during my race and here's what I've eaten since:

Yesterday:

Jimmy John's tuna sandwich w/ a side of apple pie and LOTS of whipped cream:

Starbuck's coconut mocha frappuccino:

Red Curry w/ tofu from Butterfly w/ a side of crab rangoon:

Today:

When I went to bed last night I was still a bit hungry but was WAY too tired to procure dessert, so I went to bed. Woke up at 5 am STARVING so had to get up to eat peanut butter on toast w/ a side of soy milk. Next up, Starbuck's Doubleshot energy drink. Did you know these have 12g of protein? They are practically healthy!

Brunch at 10 am at 11 City Diner w/ a couple friends. I thought this would be the meal where I finally got full. I ate 3 eggs, 2 large sausage links, plus hash browns, toast and a caloric drink called an Egg Creme.

But by 2:30 (post nap) I ate the rest of my red curry. Hmmm. Should have had the Challah French Toast at brunch as well.

Good thing I have leftover pasta for dinner or I might eat a hole through the wall....

Does this happen to anyone else post-race, or should I consider the possibility of a tapeworm? :)

And can I tell my body to just eat the extra calories conveniently located on my thighs instead of making me feel hungry? :)

  1. Ahahah - I love this post. This happens to me constantly even at times when training! Thank you for sharing all that you ate in the last 24 hours - Hysterical! I am so glad I am not the only one.

  2. First time reader!

I don't know if I am unique or not, but when I run a marathon it's usually two or three days later when I am suddenly "famished" and will eat anything in site - moving or not.

BTW - Congrats on the PR!
